On-Site Sewage Design

When building or extending a commercial or residential property in an area without a municipal sewage system in Nova Scotia, you may need to have an on-site sewerage facility. The on-site facility is normally situated within the property as a septic tank and field. In special cases when a complete below ground system cannot be installed, a raised septic system can be implemented. To install an on-site sewage or greywater treatment system, you must first get the approval from Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment. For more details about sewage treatment you can browse Nova Scotia’s Deparment of Environment’s site here or click the link below to download a quick fact sheet on Sewage Treatment in Nova Scotia.
